All are welcome.
Richard "Dick" Reed, 76, of Plymouth, MN passed away peacefully August 4th
after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Dick served a 20+ year military career as a multi-brass
and string bass/electric bass musician
as well as director in various Air Force Band programs stationed internationally. He continued to share his musical passion in a multitude of venues throughout his life, most recently as a bassist with Jazz on the Prairie Big Band. Though not a flutist himself, Dick was a big advocate for flutists. He started and directed the Wayzata Community
Church Flutes
for many years. His group and church hosted UMFA'S Flute Choir Showcase for three years. Dick and his wife of 53 years, Judy Reed, wanted flutes to be part of Dick's memorial service. In his honor almost 20 flutists, "
Flute Friends
" co-directed by Deb Metz and Cindy Farrell, has formed to participate in a concert just prior to his memorial service. Comprised of members of
the Wayzata Community Church Flutes
, Flute Cocktail, and The Silverwinds - along with Peggy Doerrie - "Flute Friends" will perform right after Jazz on the Prairie Big Band at 2:00pm.
